Module 07 · Passage planning

Module 07 · The tide at each end

Water to leave a harbour that dries and water to get into one behind a sill: the standard and the secondary port, the curve, the window, the opening and the three clocks.

How the lesson starts

Every tidal harbour asks a plan the same two questions: at what time is there water to leave? And at what time is there water to get in at the other end?

Today they decide the passage. The entrance of Diélette dries 0.7 m on the chart, so Sam can only leave with enough tide over it. The basin at Carteret is behind a sill whose flap opens only around high water: on this day, from 04:38 to 09:38 UTC.

What you practise inside

This is a preview. The lesson itself is interactive: you work through it step by step, and every answer is checked as you go.
